John Scarsbrook (England)I cannot understand why some Christians ignore history, or at best find it boring! This book traces 2000 years of evangelistic witness and New Testament doctrine. It brings to life the characters, the faithfulness and the trials of men and women to whom we owe so much. The great value I found in this book is the clear evidence that the principles and practice which we hold dear did not originate at the beginning of the nineteenth century; Mr. Broadbent charts their course from the days of the apostles.

Robert Thomson (Scotland)A heart warming book that traces the history, as best as historical records allow, of Christians who tried to practice N.T. principles of church gathering. This often brought them into conflict with established church systems. These believers acted on the light that they had and are an example to all who claim to be ‘gathered to the name of the Lord Jesus’.

William Burnett (Canada) A very carefully researched history of the Church on earth during the dark and somewhat obscure era between the days of the apostles until recent times. The author shows that despite the early incursion of Rome, that there always was a remnant, who at great cost, often to giving their lives, insisted on following the N.T. pattern for the Church. This book makes one realise how much we owe to men who laid down their lives that we might be able to gather as we do, and to practice N.T. truth

Jim McKendrick (USA)This book is a tracing of folks down through the centuries of the church that have sought to meet together simply endeavoring to be a testimony to the truth of scriptures not only in the gospel but in church order as well. This endeavor has put these folks outside the main stream of Christendom. Those who depend on the Word as their only authority, the Spirit as their only guide, and the Lord as their only head have always been in the minority. Be encouraged!
